Editor’s choice: Is surgery really the best way to deal with obesity?

I enjoy reading Marion Nestle’s blogs, because this highly acclaimed professor and nutrition expert  based in the US, is never afraid to table and debate controversial health issues. She always gets me thinking about health from a different perspective. Marion is the Paulette Goddard Professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health (the department she chaired from 1988-2003) and Professor of Sociology at New York University. Her degrees include a Ph.D. in molecular biology and an M.P.H. in public health nutrition, both from the University of California, Berkeley. More information on Marion can be found on her blog Food Politics.

I’m sharing this link to her blog on obesity and surgery because I agree with Marion – prevention is a better option when it comes to obesity. In this blog she provides a lot of really informative links for those of us who would like to, or need to, understand more about this important and controversial subject.
