Blake Lively Talks About the Unrealistic Beauty Standards We Are Setting

Many know Blake Lively for her timeless beauty. However, now that she has two young daughters of her own. She wants to set the record straight and show young girls just how much effort goes into the red carpet look, and that it not a realistic beauty expectation to hold of yourself on an every day basis.
“We have really unrealistic beauty standards and beauty norms,” Lively tells Refinery29 in an interview.
“What you’re seeing on red carpets and in magazines takes a lot of effort and a lot of people. People don’t understand that it’s all very constructed. What little girls are seeing isn’t what [these celebrities] look like when they wake up in the morning — even though it’s no less beautiful.”
“For me, it’s important for my daughters to know that it’s not real life. They’re seeing me dressed up in all this hair and makeup, but they also see me without that. I want them to see both sides, because there is never just one side,” she concludes.
Changing the Perception of Beauty and Health
With her iconic, long, blonde hair. It should come as no surprise that Lively is also the Brand Ambassador for L’Oreal Paris, and she is using her role to state of the importance of natural beauty.
In January of this year, she used her Instagram to promote L’Oreal’s New Campaign, “Your Skin, Your Story”. Which aims to celebrate the power that comes with feeling beautiful in your own skin.
Her Love of Healthy Living
Lively doesn’t just promote natural beauty, but also the importance of a balanced lifestyle. Her curvaceous, yet defined figure and radiant skin are achieved through countless healthy habits that she follows every day. Here are some listed below:
1. She consumes high quality, nutrient-dense food
Her diet consists of organic, balanced meals that
include proteins, vegetables, fruits, low GI starches like
sweet potato,and healthy fats.
2. She maintains a regular exercise regime
Lively exercises between five and six days a week, for at least 30 minutes. Her regimes are divided into cardio, resistance and strength training, in order to achieve all rounded workouts.
