How To Ensure Your Skincare Is City-Smart

You might love all the exciting hustle-and-bustle energy the city has to offer, but your skin? Not so much. Air pollutants in built-up areas can cause premature ageing and dehydrate the skin. The good news is that there are ways to protect your skin and repair some of the damage done, with modern skincare at the forefront of these methods.

The most common types of air pollutants are generally considered to be smog – which occurs when emissions from combusting fossil fuels react with sunlight – and soot. This is made up of tiny particles of chemicals, soil, smoke, dust, or allergens in the form of gas or solids that are carried in the air. Most often, the areas in and around big cities and large urban spaces are cited as having the highest levels of air pollution. Moreover, due to it being at a much higher altitude, the air can very drying to the skin. Extra care therefore needs to be taken to ensure your skin is kept hydrated and free from air pollutants that can come into contact with your skin.

As the largest organ in our bodies, it is designed to protect us from external elements, so it’s important to ensure that it isn’t compromised. For city-smart skincare, the following steps need to be implemented.
