Kate Hudson Shares Why She Is ‘Pretty Happy’

On screen Kate Hudson has shared her moving presence with many women. Now the daughter of actress Goldie Hawn explores the medium of writing. In almost every interview Kate Hudson is asked: What do you eat? How do you stay so fit? What workout do you do? What’s your secret? To finally share a complete answer Hudson compiled the rather humorous book: Pretty Happy – Healthy Ways to Love Your Body

Inspiring Women

Hudson says, “I didn’t just wake up one day understanding how to take care of myself. I had to learn how to do so over time, and I continue to learn—each and every day. This is a process, and my body is constantly changing. So is yours. And when I learned how to accept that I will always be like this, I relaxed. Our bodies do not stand still for time.”

“When you understand yourself and connect to how you can become body smart, you realize pretty quickly that the perfect, the ideal is not the goal. Instead, the goal is feeling good in your body. That’s what leads to confidence, to feeling and looking fit, and being ‘Pretty Happy’. Doesn’t that sound great? I think so!”

Motivation to Get Healthy

“I am really excited about this as it’s the first time I get to talk about this with women and I am super passionate about the holistic self,” Hudson shares with Good Morning America. When people ask what’s your secret? “It’s not a secret, there’s no secret it takes a lot of work. It’s a discipline, but it also needs to come from each aspect of your life. For me it’s more about how do you motivate women to want that to be a part of their lifestyles.

“I would like the book to feel more of a conversation,” Hudson shares with Rachael Ray. “There has to be a way to have a healthy lifestyle that feels accessible and easier to wrap your head around. I am trying to open the dialogue for people about how to connection with the things that they like versus the things that are sort of shoved down your throat. It’s really more about a holistic approach to connecting with yourself.”

Body Image

“I think that women feel pressure on them and it’s very discouraging,” Hudson shares with E News. “There is a part of me that wants to encourage women to start with just one foot in front of the other. I think that sometimes you just have to let go of others expectations. I think the second we stop worrying about what’s outside of ourselves we start to enjoy our days better. I think women feel a lot of pressure.

“I think it’s really challenging for people and we need to support each other,” she shared with Rachael Ray. “And that’s the other thing, is to find the support systems, to continue the dialogue. It’s OK if it’s hard, it’s OK if you make mistakes, it’s OK if you can’t lose the weight you thought you were going to lose. It’s about accepting yourself.”

Exercise Fun

Hudson reminds us that when we are stressed being active becomes really hard. She encourages women to try out different sports and activities and find the one that is fun for them. We all need to find the thing we love. She told E News, “Being active makes me happy, it makes me feel better, it just makes me feel good. I grew up dancing and I was very athletic. But I have that tool that was instilled in me from when I was young and I think that a lot of women don’t necessarily have that but it’s never too late to start that process of enjoying what it feels like to feel strong and for me that’s really what it’s about. “

Getting On with Mindfulness

“My Mom has been my great teacher when it comes to mindfulness and meditation,” Hudson told Rachael Ray. “Now it’s becoming a real talking piece when it comes to mental health, and an important one.”

“I think meditation is an incredible tool and there is just too much research around it to not have it be a part of our lives,” She explained to Good Morning America. “I think the sanity of trying to stay as grounded as possible, what it does to your body and your brain is it starts to just alleviate the stress hormones. That’s just a huge part of so many issues whether it be illness whether it be holding on to weight and I think that’s where meditation is really helpful. I think women can be hard on themselves. We are almost predisposed to be hard on ourselves and I’d like to see that start to be alleviated.”

Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson came up with a new mantra for 2016 – “Why not? Hudson explains to CBS that it’s their way of not overthinking things and worrying about what the outcome is going to be. “I’ve spent a lot of my life being careful about what I’m saying or what I’m doing, or worrying about what people are going to think.”

Post Baby Sexuality

Hudson spoke to E News about finding your womanhood after having a baby, “I think it’s not necessarily about sex as much as it is about your sensuality. Feeling connected to your femininity, your sexuality, not necessarily ‘giving it away’ but more about what it feels like, that sort of flirtatious openness that you can feel that you can have fun and feel sexy. It’s important.”

In a nutshell her book Pretty Happy is about:

  • Eating Well
  • Awakening Your Body through movement
