Our Well Up Challenge, sponsored by Nestle, is well under way, with our 13 participants getting into the swing of things when it comes to their physical and emotional wellbeing. With the support of our expert panel we hope to help our participants become better informed about their health and wellness and guide them in making sustainable changes when it comes to their weight-loss and wellness journey.

1. When the body is out of balance, we are drawn to the things that create more imbalance, and when we are in balance, we naturally gravitate to a way of life that supports the state of balance.

2. The brain utilizes more energy than any other organ. It is hungry for oxygen and nutrients. Supplied with adequate oxygen from optimal breathing and sufficient nutrients from a good food, the you will feel focused , clear and relaxed. This is authentic energy!

3. Linger longer:  Make a conscious effort to slow down when enjoying your meals. Why? It takes about 20 minutes for stretch receptors in your stomach to send the signal to the brain when you are full. If you eat too fast, you probably have overeaten by the time you release you are full. Food eaten more slowly is more pleasurable and enjoyable and is more easily digested.

4. Get at least 6 1/2 hours of sleep. Research has shown that when we are sleep deprived, the body releases the hormone Ghrelin, that stimulates appetite and decreases the secretion of Leptin, the hormone that curbs appetite.
