Obesity is a major health problem of the modern age. It’s not only restricted to adults and parents, but increasingly more children are growing up obese. This threatens their future lifespan. According to statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 17.6 million children under five are estimated to be overweight. Studies of IOTF show that obesity is acute in America and Europe and it has also begun to affect the developing countries. There can be no doubt that apart from the serious health problems, obesity in children also increases the risk of behavior problems in them.

4. Obese children show four times more signs of depressive disorder than non-obese children. They also show symptoms of opposition more than non-obese children.

Why parents don’t recognize obesity in their children?

Our modern lifestyle is one of the important reasons for childhood obesity. The computer era has made life more sedentary. Children tend to spend more time in sitting, watching TV or engaged in computer games.  Although genetic factors have a part to play in obesity, it is less significant than the fact that families tend to share bad fast food habits. Children will follow the example of their parents who spend more time sitting and are less active.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has published a study stating the facts about how eating fast food negatively impacts the diets of American children, increasing their risk of obesity.

Sadly, parents tend to ignore eating habits of their children, as they mostly fail to prevent children from their picky eating habits.  Children prefer eating more fatty and junk foods which are easily available in today’s consumerist world market.

Another important reason for parents not recognizing obesity in children is that they don’t make the time to pay attention to all such things. Parents find it hard to find time to cook a healthy meal as ‘time has become a commodity’ that is in short supply. Until parents take control of their children’s diet and health, obesity in children will continue to rise and condemn many to a challenged and expensive health and life span as they age.

However, what is missing in an understanding of how food is processed through the liver . . the role that liver cells play in converting food into hundreds of life sustaining body parts and functions that sustain life itself. . .creating energy, muscles, strong bones, immune and clotting factors, hormones and hundreds of essential complex chemical conversions People need to know that unhealthy foods, drugs and alcohol can kill liver cells turning them into scar tissue called cirrhosis silently impacting their ability to perform essential life sustaining functions.

    Kudos to UCLA Fielding School of Public Health,Tulane University, and Los Angeles PHFE WIC and Heluna Health for the study showing that providing healthy foods early in life reduces obesity rates among young children reduces obesity rates

    The challenge we all face that is motivating parents and caregivers to abide by the suggested nutritional foods used in the study. Moms need to be motivated by understanding that unhealthy foods ingested can damage and kill liver cells, the body’s internal chemical refineries responsible for converting the food ingested into hundreds of life sustaining body parts and functions 24/7. We have been preaching about what to eat for years without an understanding of why we eat three meals a day and what happens to the food ingested that leads to obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis, and 13 types of cancer.

    By making complex liver functions relatable to daily body functions such as “Getting out of bed in the morning depends on energy being provided and stored by the liver from the meal they ate the night before” or “Those globs of cholesterol building up in blood vessels that cause heart attacks depend on the liver and its production and excretion of cholesterol every day” “Or “clotting factors made by the liver that stop cuts from becoming an uncontrolled hemorrhage” .
