1. Extrinsic Motivation
When we are motivated to perform an action in order to earn some reward or avoid a punishment, extrinsic motivation is a tool that keeps us going. The strong desire to avoid a negative outcome at any cost acts as a fuel that compels the person to carry out some task. People engage in some sort of action out of fear or avarice. For example, students study because they wish to achieve good grades in their exams and to avoid flunking in a subject. Another example is working hard to clear a competitive exam, in order to win a scholarship.
2. Intrinsic Motivation
In intrinsic motivation, the driving force behind a person’s action is self-satisfaction. When the task itself seems rewarding, the person enjoys doing it not because of greed for some external reward. They perform an action mainly for their own sake and pleasure. For example, passionate sportsmen play because they enjoy their sport, not because of an external reward they desire.
The basic difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is that the intrinsic side arises from the inner self, whereas extrinsic comes from an external source. Intrinsic motivation leads to a stronger effect as compared to its counterpart, as it appeals to the interest of the individual.

When people are sufficiently motivated, it enables them to break free of all their boundaries and limits and eventually push themselves to success. If you have the determination but lack some zest to achieve something in life, then it is time for some serious dose of motivation. 1. Identification Of The Goal
When you wish to improvise your current circumstances, you need to be properly motivated in order to identify the goal you need to reach. Any desire, be it addition or change will help a person identify his or her goal and strive toward achieving it.
2. Setting Your Priorities
When you are absolutely clear about what you wish to acquire, you can prioritize your actions accordingly. Your goal should be on your top priority. Rest of the factors are secondary.
3. Crossing The Hurdles
Most of the people tend to lose the sight of their goal after a few trials as they don’t have the motivation to keep going. This element helps you stay on track even when you encounter obstacles in your way. It also ensures consistency and resilience that is required for achieving any goal.
