Meet The Panellists Of Our Beauty Workshop
On the 23rd of March, we are hosting our first workshop of the year in a morning of information, fun and networking at the marvelous Mesh Club in Rosebank. Longevity, in partnership with Solal, has invited a team of leading medical experts as panellists to provide you with informative tips to start and finish your year stronger, bolder and more beautiful than ever. In this panel discussion, we will host leading psychologists and general practitioners in the fields of health and wellness, who will share their insights into how we can tackle the challenges of modern life across the disciplines of the MIND, BODY and SOUL.
Who are our panellists?
Dr Dhesan Moodley
Dr. Dhesan Moodley is one of a few elite doctors globally who has obtained the Masters in Functional, Anti-aging and Integrative Medicine, the highest qualification in this field of medicine. He studied Functional Medicine through the prestigious USA medical institutions: The Morsani School of Medicine at the University of South Florida, A4M and Metabolic Medical Institute. He was a distinguished student who obtained his Masters with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.97 (out of 4.0) representing an average score of approximately 99%. He is passionate about furthering medical knowledge and bringing these new advances to South Africa for the benefit of all South Africans. He currently travels between South Africa and the USA so that he can remain at the forefront of USA research while offering this to his patients in Bryanston, South Africa.
Dr. Moodley also holds the following degrees:
- MBChB, University of KZN, in 1985
- MMed Sports Science, UCT, in 1990
- MBA, UCT, 1991
His current Functional medicine focus is on hormone replacement, weight loss management, the treatment of autoimmune conditions and the management of chronic conditions.
As a result of his unique skills, he also serves on several boards such as:

He is an active sportsman who has run Comrades and Two Oceans, and enjoys karate and fishing.
What will Dr Moodley be talking about?
For this workshop, he will be focusing on inner health and how you can set yourself up to be the CEO of your own health. As one of the panellists, the topic he will discuss include how to set up the best kind of health outlook in an age where cancer, AI, lifestyle related diseases appear to be on the increase. In addition, he will look at what each of us can do to improve our own health, along with what should be avoided. He will also address the conflicting types of information out there on issues such as diets, supplements and lifestyle diseases, in order to help make sense of these topics.
Dr Marilyn Davis-Shulman
She is an Educational Social Worker and Clinical Psychologist registered with the HPCSA, holding accreditations for achievement from the South African Institute for Traumatic Stress in Advanced Trauma Treatment. Dr Davis-Shulman has been trained in the Neurobiological Legacy of Complex Traumatic Stress, which has significantly refined her skill-set and level of specialist expertise in dealing with the ramifications of attachment rupture in infants, children, adolescents and adults.
She has also had extensive training and experience in family therapy and mediation, which has equipped her to evaluate and assess adult and child relationship dynamics. Her clinical expertise allows diagnosis of insecure, ambivalent and/or disorganised attachment difficulties that render dysfunction within family systems.
Dr Davis-Shulman’s psycho-legal work includes psychological evaluation and assessment, parenting coordination, mediation, the drawing up of parenting plans, post-divorce intervention, as well as acting as an expert in her field for the purposes of court appearances.
What will Dr Davis-Shulman bring to the table?
As one of our panellists, she will be tackling the role of your mind and emotions in managing better health outcomes. She will also be looking at the role resilience plays in overcoming health challenges, as well as how trauma and the stressors of day to day life are impacting on not just our mental health, but also our physical health.
Dr Mark Opperman
Since 2001, Dr Mark Opperman has been specializing and exclusively practicing non-surgical medical aesthetics, with a focus on integrative anti-ageing solutions. The combination of his artistic finesse, technical injection skills, and advanced knowledge of dermal fillers and facial harmony provide the basis of his natural-results approach to restoring the face back to its former, rejuvenated state.
After graduating from the University of Pretoria’s Medical School in 1999, Dr Opperman set off abroad to practice Medical Aesthetics in Los Angeles and Miami. With predominant experience within the private healthcare sector, Dr Opperman has been exposed to numerous unique aesthetic cases and research opportunities, which has lead to his keen interest in Advanced Integrative Medical Aesthetics.
He regularly attends international and national aesthetic conferences and seminars in order to stay up to date with the latest medical research and technical advances. He also participates in advanced aesthetic workshops with fellow aestheticians to share ideas and techniques.
In 2016 he set up a specialized, one of a kind men’s clinic in South Africa – The-T-Clinic, which focuses on the effects of low testosterone on body and mind. This has proven to be immensely successful with patients both locally and internationally. He has been invited to speak on the subject on numerous radio and television shows .
Dr Opperman has also had numerous articles published in both prestigious and mainstream publications. He believes in a holistic, step-by-step approach in assisting his patients in achieving optimal results. Each patient is assessed thoroughly and then advised on a tailor made treatment program that will address their concerns, taking into consideration their expectations, time schedules, medical conditions as well as budget.
