Created by Longevity for Hyde Park Corner
‘Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a mother.’
Hyde Park Corner, in collaboration with Longevity Magazine, are making the most of Mother’s Day with a culinary celebration of fashionable food.
With a reputation for sophisticated socialising, this eclectic experiential event, curated by celebrity chef, Paul Atkinson, will showcase a soupçon of mouthwatering offerings from his latest bestselling cookbook – Plentiful. Written in collaboration with Angela Shaw, Chris and Louis Van Loon, this is Chef Atkinson’s third cookbook inspired by one of the ten best meditation retreat centres in the world, as voted by CNN.
Revered for vegetarian recipes merged with tastes of the Mediterranean, this big book of Buddha food offers guests an opportunity to explore vegetarian cuisine of the highest order, tried and tested in the kitchen of an internationally renowned meditation centre in Ixopos.
Who is Paul Atkinson
Paul Atkinson was born in York, England. He later emigrated with his family, when he was two years old, to the sunnier climates of South Africa. He attended UCT and, after deciding that a career in mechanical engineering really wasn’t for him. Paul chose to head back to England to explore his roots.
While there, he studied Acupuncture and Chinese medicine and met his wife-to-be. They then had the opportunity to travel the length and breadth of Europe, taking in the sights and tasting all of the food.
A chance meeting, over a loaf of bread at a local café, saw Paul take on his first cooking role, under the guidance of a highly accomplished chef Steve Holding. Though he took a steep learning curve, it stood in good stead for a promising future in cooking.
